Mechanism of Action

Indications

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease

Dosage and Administration

20-40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks

Capsule, tablet, powder for suspension

Side Effects

Headache, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea

Contraindications

Severe hepatic impairment

Interactions

May reduce absorption of drugs requiring an acidic pH

Precautions

Use caution in patients with osteoporosis or at risk of fractures

Absorbed in the intestine, metabolized in the liver, excreted in urine and feces

Inhibits the final step of acid production in the stomach
